Rebekka Tyn and Aleksander LeNhal were originally born in what was once the country of Denmark. When the Rifts opened, each of them was torn from their home and deposited somewhere in the New German Republic. Of course, children tend not to last very long out in the wilderness, so it was a bit of a mixed blessing that they were both found by the Angel of Death's hordes. Initially, they were used as fodder for experimental new Mind over Matter implants, but both of them showcased unusual mental aptitude, managing to retain their sanity through the rigors of the testing. In these children, the Angel saw potential for her most recent project: recreating psychic abilities through the use of MoM implants. Her favorite pets, Clarice and Tieler - a pair of highly skilled psychic twins - were growing old, and their powers wouldn't be at her disposal for much longer. by linking their minds to the younger children, she believed she could transfer their powers unto a new generation.
Rebekka and Aleksander, however, were finally beginning to break down. Their minds had been cracking from the beginning, but now those cracks were beginning to grow. One day, seemingly out of nowhere, each of them collapsed, their basic bodily functions shutting down one by one. Doing a quick scan, the operators were able to determine that large portions of both childrens' brains had simply died from the stress, and that neither would last much longer. Fortunately, it was discovered that each of their remaining brain function complimented the other, and a quick operation later saw the two piggybacking off each others' minds. The ordeal over, the Angel immediately began the process of prototyping her creations.
Clarice and Tieler's brains were the first to be modified - the Angel implanted what amounted to glorified transmitters directly inside their heads. Rebekka and Aleksander were next, they were given recievers tuned directly in to Clarice and Tieler's thought patterns. Now, all the Angel had to do was find a way to overwrite the childrens' minds, which at this point were almost completely gone anyway. What followed, however, suprised even her. Rather than transferring Clara and Ty's minds over wholesale, the transmitter/reciever pairs seemed to selectively copy certain quirks and traits of the twins' personalities into the minds of the children. Unknown to her, the nature of the implants was such that they merely filled in the missing pieces of the childrens' psyches with those of the twins. Furthermore, the twins' minds were still fully intact, so the process could theoretically be repeated. The question, though, was not of their mental state, but their mental abilities.
When Clara and Ty awoke, they found themselves horribly confused and disoriented. Neither could remember what they had been doing or, in fact, much of anything regarding the state of their lives prior to that moment. All they knew for sure was that they weren't alone. Not far from their cots, a bemused looking man stood frowning at them and sweating slightly. Clearly concentrating, he didn't even notice that the two had awoken. He continued this for a while, but nothing immediately evident seemed to come of it. As they watched, he seemed to finally tire himself out, because he let out a grunt and promptly stopped exerting himself. Not paying them any attention whatsoever, he wrote something into a databook and left the room. Still feeling quite drained, the two decided it would be best not to move for a while.
The Angel of Death looked over her Telepath's notes. Not only was he unable to read the childrens' minds, had he not been looking at them he would have sworn they weren't even there. None of his psychic abilities could sense them, which was something he was quite unfamilliar with. This could only mean that they were supressing his powers, as Clarice and Tieler had done for so many years. The experiment was a success, and she now had two pairs of deadzone psychics to work with. But wait, was the experiment repeatable? She would need more test subjects to be sure. One thing was for certain, however, her creations needed a test drive, somewhere that her name didn't strike fear into the hearts of every creature. Somewhere the children could fully assimilate into society, where they would just be another pair of psychics (albeit powerful ones).
