Steel Trees are quite famous for their supreme strength and durability. Steel wood is extremely powerful in both offensive and defensive applications, but the true value is in the material's high resistance to superficial damage. The wood is EXTREMELY difficult to scratch, let alone scuff, making it perfect for our board. We've already acquired most of the materials for our Go set, but we fear finding something suitable for our white pieces will take some time. Perhaps something in this swamp has particularly strong bones we could borrow?~
Obsidian is generally a naturally-occurring volcanic glass found most often near rhyolitic lava flows, also called obsidian flows. However, the obsidian we obtained appeared almost synthetic. This makes sense, as it was literally being used as a building material, and the technology needed to such a thing isn't exactly sophisticated in this day and age. While it looks sturdy, in principle obsidian is still glass, so we'll have to be very careful when cutting down to shape. Still, it's an excellent material, and the samples we found will make beautiful black pieces.
